The time has finally come! We are so excited to share the first official batch of screenshots from Stirring Abyss. It’s been a wild ride so far, and there’s a long way to go still. All screenshots are from the build we are frantically preparing for our upcoming crowdfunding campaign (more details coming soon™). Hopefully you’ll enjoy these offerings as much as we enjoyed making them!
As you progress through the icy depths, your surroundings become more and more corrupted and dangerous. Thankfully, this is what the crew prepared for: whether through tough military training, lessons learned from the finest universities, or secrets gleaned from ancient manuscripts, your band of intrepid explorers are ready to face the horrors of the abyss.
Many dangers lurk in the murky darkness. Though you did not come empty-handed, combat under countless tons of water has its challenges. You may wish to keep the crew together in order to better tackle the threats you find; or split up and cover more ground while trying to avoid direct confrontation. Light is one of the few allies you have, so count your flares and use them with a purpose.
Beyond the vast plains of the sea floor lie caves and ancient structures, remnants of the ancient era when the region still lay above the waves. They provide shelter from both predators, as well as the ravages of the relentless currents that wear down even the greatest of monuments given time. But be warned: you may not be the only one seeking refuge…
The Salem is the vessel that brought the expedition to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a heavily modified Gato-class submarine, a relic of the second world war, now fitted for exploration instead of warfare. The preparations were meticulous, with every possible scenario accounted for. The problem? Your arrival was a tumultuous affair that left most of the ship flooded, its equipment beyond the most basic life support destroyed, and the majority of the crew missing.
Mysteries beyond imagination await beneath the rolling tides. Will you succeed in solving them, or will the bleached skeletons of your crew await the next fools brave enough to enter the Stirring Abyss?
“If that abyss and what it held were real, then there is no hope.”
